Annual Fine Art Show

The San Dimas Festival of Arts is dedicated to the preservation of the western spirit through the arts via special cultural events and public art.

Each spring, a select group of distinguished artists are invited to come to San Dimas for the Annual Fine Art Show (formerly known as the Annual National Western Fine Art Exhibition and Sale). They exhibit approximately 150–200 pieces of art in various categories such as paintings, drawings, sculpture, and other media, attracting thousands of guests from throughout the region. The festival features seminars, art demonstrations, and an exciting display of student art from schools within the Bonita Unified School District. There is no charge for admission to these shows.

"Overseer, Chinatown, SF" by featured artist Mian Situ.

This year, the Festival is thrilled to welcome as its Featured Artist, the magnificent work of Mian Situ. Situ is truly a master storyteller. His works are skillfully painted, beautifully designed, and depict provocative and complex narratives. It is as though you are reading a book when you look at Situ’s works—a book where the narrative is purely visual. There are no words, but the images themselves evoke such emotion and are so purely rendered that there is little question as to their meaning. It is no wonder that Mian Situ has earned such prestigious designations as a Master of Western Art, a Signature Member of the Art Club of California, and a Master Signature member of the Oil Painters of America.

Previously, the Festival proudly showcased artists who reflected the ‘Old West Attitude.’ Beginning last year, the Spring show adopted a new theme: California Images & History. This change better highlights the vast diversity of the state with art that exemplifies the splendors of the coast, vast mountain ranges, flourishing wine country, and Hollywood.

The Festival made two significant changes to the April 2015 Annual Art Show:

  • The first change was the adoption of a new theme: California Images & History. All the work in the gallery, paintings and sculptures, will contain a connection to California and the many thousands of its treasures.
  • The second change is the addition of a Plein Air Event on Saturday, April 25. The site is the World Headquarters for the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation Campus in San Dimas.
