Annual Fine Art Show

The San Dimas Festival of Arts is dedicated to the preservation of the western spirit through the arts via special cultural events and public art.

Each spring, a select group of distinguished artists are invited to come to San Dimas for the Annual Fine Art Show (formerly known as the Annual National Western Fine Art Exhibition and Sale). They exhibit approximately 150–200 pieces of art in various categories such as paintings, drawings, sculpture, and other media, attracting thousands of guests from throughout the region. The festival features seminars, art demonstrations, and an exciting display of student art from schools within the Bonita Unified School District. There is no charge for admission to these shows.

Since the inception of the new theme, California Images & History, the San Dimas Festival of Arts has sought to bring innovative ideas to the forefront of the art festival season. The California Images & History theme is demonstrated by 30 artists who portray the vast diversity of the state with art that exemplifies the splendors of the coast, vast mountain ranges, and flourishing wine country.

It is fitting that we pay special tribute to Hollywood as well. The alchemy of Hollywood studio art and fine arts merge together in this new Spring show by featuring eclectic artist Tom Hester. Tom’s bronze sculptures (shown above) have reached academic levels and his ‘studio’ fantasy creatures have helped to create Oscar Gold on myrid blockbuster movies including An American Werewolf in London and the Shrek series of films. This change better highlights the vast diversity of the state with art that exemplifies the splendors of the coast, vast mountain ranges, flourishing wine country, and Hollywood.

The Festival made two significant changes to the April 2015 Annual Art Show:

  • The first change was the adoption of a new theme: California Images & History. All the work in the gallery, paintings and sculptures, will contain a connection to California and the many thousands of its treasures.
  • The second change is the addition of a Plein Air Event on Saturday, April 25. The site is the World Headquarters for the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation Campus in San Dimas.
