16th Annual Wildlife Art Show

October 19, 20 & 21, 2012

Civic Center Plaza, 245 E. Bonita Ave., San Dimas, CA [map]

The 2012 Wildlife Art Show displayed beautiful wildlife art, including original paintings, sculptures and prints from professional artists. All the exhibiting artists were in attendance with their artwork. The show was well attended and sales were strong. The event also featured Student Art for grades K–8 from students within Bonita Unified School District.

Friday evening, October 19, was the Premier Opening and Artists Awards dinner. The Gallery was open, with free admission, on Saturday and Sunday. A number of special events were held, including:

  • an artists seminar by Rita Bechtold;
  • a presentation by the High School Drama Club;
  • a very popular clay workshop by Richard Myer;
  • Student Art Award presentations;
  • an exciting Raffle (see below);
  • and the winners for the Artists Portfolio and People’s Choice Award.

We tried something new for the raffle art this year and it was a huge success, generating excitement and interest. This year patrons who purchased raffle tickets could choose the artwork they wanted their tickets to go towards. When it was time to draw the winners people gathered around, eager to see if their ticket was selected. Each of the boxes were well stuffed with tickets from hopeful buyers. What was best about the raffle was that in choosing which box to place the ticket in, the people took a careful look at the artwork. They took their time and really examined the offerings on display. It is our hope that this same mind-frame and consideration was given to the artwork in the Artists booths.
